Emily Williams has always wanted to teach. She loved math, but could not imagine working a traditional desk job. She did, however, enjoy working with other people. She instead decided to work at a day care about 3-5 years ago, where she cared for kids aged 6 weeks old to 12 years old, all in the same class. 

“Working at a daycare has taught me patience in a way no other job could,” Williams said.

While the day care was a unique experience, it helped her be patient and flexible. It also

made her realize what she was passionate about: working with kids. 

During high school, Williams enjoyed science, but did not expect it to be part of her job. She was supposed to take AP Biology, but ended up taking physics because of scheduling changes. While many people would be upset by this, Williams embraced it and ended up enjoying it, so she decided to teach the subject alongside math.

Her students described her as easy to talk to and supportive. They said they could ask her any questions without being judged, and they feel like she’s very engaging.

“Teaching is not just about getting through the lesson, it’s about building trust and relationships with the kids,” Williams said. 

Ms. Emily Williams is a teacher who stands out from the rest; she uses her patience to create a genuine connection with her students. She started loving math, learned to love physics, and discovered her passion for working with young children. These experiences have built her as an instructor and person, making her the teacher she is today.
